Use and disclosure

IRC §7216 consent

Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code limits how a tax return preparer may use or disclose tax return information. This page is a placeholder for two separate consents. Counsel must approve the final language before a preparer relies on it.

Consent to use

Use means using your tax return information to prepare your 2026 individual return on this desk, to compute the estimate, and to show it to you. The signature screen asks for this consent. Preparing the return requires it.

Consent to disclose

Disclose means sharing tax return information with someone other than you for a purpose other than preparing the return. On this product the optional checkbox covers a Triple Seven Studios preparer reading the return when you ask for expert review or a South Florida appointment.

You do not have to consent to disclosure in order to have the return prepared. Declining the optional checkbox does not block a free or self-serve return. If you choose the expert-review tier, a preparer cannot see the return until you allow that disclosure. You can withhold it and stay on a self-serve tier instead.

This screen does not authorize marketing lists, selling data, or sending the return to the IRS. The IRS transmission is a separate, still-unbuilt step that requires an EFIN and approved software.
